Alternative Methods of Filing Due to COVID-19 Stay-At-Home Order

 
The Department of Civil Records is open and available to members of the public who require assistance with their filings.  In order to also provide alternative methods of filing for those practicing social distancing during the Stay-At-Home Order, the Department of Civil Records is temporarily accepting alternative methods for filing documents with the Court.
 
Petitioners wishing to request an adult or child order of protection after business hours may contact a local law enforcement agency, a hospital, or one of the following shelters:
Rose Brooks Center in Kansas City, Missouri at 816-861-6100

Litigants without attorneys may file pleadings in one of the following ways.
· Via fax at one of the following numbers, which are checked between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm on business days:

o The Department of Civil Records is open and available to members of the public who require assistance with their filings.  In the near future, dropboxes will also be available for self-represented litigants to use to file their pleadings.  Procedures for use of the dropboxes will be published to the Court’s website.
o Note: Please do not place time-sensitive pleadings (such as an injunction or temporary restraining order), cash payments, or documents filed under seal in these dropboxes. Please contact the appropriate Civil Records location for further information about processing these items.
