The 16th Judicial Circuit Court for Jackson County, Missouri will take appropriate steps to ensure that communication with litigants, participants, jurors and members of the public with disabilities are effective. No qualified individual with a disability will be excluded, by reason of such disability from participation in or be denied the benefits of the services, programs or activities of the Court or be subjected to discrimination by the Court.

Parking
There is no designated free parking for the public at either courthouse. There are metered spaces designated for persons with disabilities on the north side of the Kansas City Courthouse on 12th Street, near the Oak intersection. Wheelchair accessible public parking is also available in the City Garage located at the corner of 12th and Oak. For the Independence Courthouse, metered parking is available on the street in front of and on the sides of the courthouse.
Wheelchair Accessible Entries
The wheelchair accessible entrance for the downtown Kansas City courthouse is located on the west side of the building on Oak Street. The wheelchair accessible entrance for the Independence Courthouse is located at the front of the building on West Kansas. Both buildings are equipped with elevators.
Wheelchair Accessible Restrooms
In the downtown Kansas City courthouse, accessible public restrooms are located in the Jury Assembly Room on the 3rd Floor. In the Independence Courthouse, the accessible public restrooms are located on the ground floor (basement) and the first floor.
