Wedding Ceremonies

During this time of concern in our community regarding the spread of COVID-19, and with the Court’s administrative orders that are in place, judges are not presently performing wedding ceremonies.   Thank you for your understanding.

Judges of the 16th Judicial Circuit Court in Jackson County are authorized to perform a marriage ceremony according to Missouri Statute 451.100 which states, “Marriages may also be solemnized, without compensation, by any judge, including a municipal judge.”

If you would like to request that a judge perform your wedding ceremony, you must contact the judge directly to make the request.  The names of the judges who are available to conduct a ceremony and their contact information is available here.  It is suggested that you phone or e-mail the judge's judicial administrative assistant to make the request.

Judges are not obligated to perform a marriage ceremony and do so based upon their availability.
