NOTICE TO THOSE WISHING TO FILE AN ADULT/CHILD ABUSE PETITION
The clerks in these offices will explain and provide all forms necessary for the presentation of your petition to the court Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Petitions filed in the office before 4:30 p.m. will be presented to the court for review the same day. Petitions filed after 4:30 p.m. will be presented to the court for review the following business day.
You may also submit your completed petitions to the email addresses provided below by location. If you are unsure of what location to use, you may submit your petition to civilrecords@courts.mo.gov

ADULT ABUSE INFORMATION
Missouri’s Adult Abuse Act provides protective relief for victims of domestic violence and stalking. However, to receive an “Order of Protection” under this act, you must initiate a civil lawsuit by filing a petition with the court.

Alternative Methods of Filing Due to COVID-19
The Department of Civil Records is open and available to members of the public who require assistance with their filings. In order to also provide alternative methods of filing for those practicing social distancing, the Department of Civil Records is temporarily accepting alternative methods for filing documents with the Court.
Litigants without attorneys may file pleadings in one of the following ways.
- Via fax at one of the following numbers, which are checked between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm on business days:

- Via email at one of the following email addresses, which are checked between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm on business days:
- Via Mail or Via Dropbox at one of the addresses listed above.
- Please note that filings must be no larger than 7 MB and must be submitted in PDF format.
