Purchasing Department

Overview

The Purchasing Department is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except on Court observed holidays. It is located on the First Floor of the Family Court Justice Center, 625 E. 26th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64108-2719; phone 816-435-4780; fax 816-435-8039.

The mission of the Purchasing department is to provide quality service through effective communication with all departments and a cooperative working relationship with vendors, in order to fulfill the needs of the Family Court.

Purchasing Functions/Responsibilities

The Purchasing Department seeks to secure supplies, materials, equipment and services (both construction and professional) for the  departments of the Family Court in an efficient, professional, timely and cost effective manner, and in accordance with all legal requirements and ethical standards.

Purchasing will issue an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for goods or services in excess of $5,000 and place a public advertising by means of a Formal Invitation for Bid when in excess of $25,000.

A Request for Proposal (RFP) is used in lieu of an Invitation for Bid when sealed bidding is either not practicable or not advantageous to the Family Court.

Goods or services under $5,000 will be procured by means of at least two (2) written quotes, obtained either in person, by phone (solicitation only), fax, direct mail, email or Internet site quotes.
