Biography

Commissioner Nancy Alemifar was appointed by the Court to serve as a Family Court Commissioner on June 19, 2015.  Prior to her appointment, Commissioner Alemifar held the position of Pro Bono attorney for Husch Blackwell LLP starting with the legacy firm Blackwell Sanders Matheny Weary and Lombardi in 1995.  In that capacity, Commissioner Alemifar spent twenty years representing parents and children in the Abuse Neglect and Delinquency appointments assigned to the firm from the Jackson County Family Court.  Commissioner Alemifar came to Husch Blackwell after serving as an attorney for the Juvenile Office in the Jackson County Family Court from 1993 to 1995.  She has had the privilege of practicing in nearly every role in family court proceedings.  Commissioner Alemifar began her legal career at Legal Aid of Western Missouri in 1991 as a staff attorney in the housing unit.

Commissioner Alemifar received her B.S. degree in Philosophy at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1982 and her J.D. degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1991.  She was also a student at the Kansas City Art Institute during her undergraduate years.
