Anytime someone asks a question you don't understand tell the Judge that you don't understand the question. If you don't know the answer to a question, it's OK to say that. Sometimes you may not remember something that you are asked about and its OK to say that you don't remember.
THE FAMILY COURT DIVISION
The Judge/Commissioner must decide who is telling the truth by listening to everyone. A witness is very, very important to help the Judge decide. What you have to say is important.
THE JUVENILE OFFICER
The Attorney for the Juvenile Officer:
- will usually be the first attorney who asks questions of the child witness so that the Judge understands what happened to the child.
- will want the child to tell the truth about what happened.
ATTORNEY FOR OTHER RELATIVES may also ask questions.
