Mission

The mission of the Jackson County Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) is to improve public safety and minimize formal involvement in the juvenile justice system through early intervention, comprehensive assessment and coordinated access to appropriate services for underserved youth.

Overview

The JAC will offer a centralized location for youth in crisis to receive assistance.  The JAC was designed to prevent and/or reduce juvenile delinquency through the provision of effective services and interventions to youth ages 17 and under experiencing:

  • trauma
  • conflict/anger and behavioral issues
  • mental health challenges
  • curfew violations
  • truancy/poor academic performance
  • delinquency
  • family dysfunction/parenting issues
  • substance abuse
  • domestic violence
  • suicide risk
  • homelessness
     

The JAC will collaborate with law enforcement, area schools, Children's Division, and community service providers in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for youth.
