A Curfew is an order establishing a specific time certain regulations apply, esp. that no civilians or other specified group of unauthorized persons may be outdoors or that places of public assembly must be closed.  Below are the curfew ordinances for juveniles set forth by the local governments within Jackson County Missouri.

Section 220.540—CURFEW (see full version)

B. Nighttime Curfew.  It shall be unlawful for any person sixteen (16) years of age or younger to be in or upon any public place or way within the City of Blue Springs between the hours of 12:01 A.M. and 6:00 A.M. The provisions of this Subsection shall not apply to any such persons accompanied by a parent or guardian, to any such person upon an errand or other legitimate business directed by such person's parent or guardian, to any such person who is engaged in gainful, lawful employment during said time period, or who is returning or in route to said employment, or to any such person who is attending or in route to or from any organized religious or school activity. (printable version)

Buckner

Section 220.010—LOITERING OF MINORS PROHIBITED

It shall be unlawful for any minor under the age of seventeen (17) years of age to be upon the public streets, highways or public ways of the City of Buckner between the hours of 10:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. from Sunday through Thursday or between the hours of 12:00 Midnight and 6:00 A.M. on any Friday or Saturday or on the eves of the principal U.S. Holidays, which are as follows:  New Year's Eve, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.  Provided however that the provisions of this Section do not apply to a minor accompanied by his/her parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor, or where the minor is upon an emergency errand directed by his/her parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor.  (Ord. Grain Valley

Section 215.130—CURFEW—SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD 

A. Generally.  It shall be unlawful for any juvenile under the age of seventeen (17) years to loiter, ramble, play or frequent the sidewalks. Streets, alleys or public places of this City between the hours of 11:00 P.M. and 5:00 A.M. Sunday through Thursday and Midnight to 5:00 A.M. Friday and Saturday unless such juvenile is accompanied by a parent, guardian or other person having legal custody of such juvenile, or is in the performance of an errand or duty directed by such parent or guardian or legal custodian, or whose employment makes it necessary to be upon such streets, alleys, or public places during the nighttime, or is in attendance or going to or coming from an activity sponsored by or under the direction of the public schools or churches, after such specified hour of 11:00 P.M.
B. Parental Responsibility.  It is hereby made unlawful for any parent, guardian or person having the legal care or custody of any juvenile to allow such juvenile to loiter, ramble, play or frequent sidewalks, streets, alleys or public places of this City in nighttime as specified in Subsection (A) of this Section. Grandview

 Sec. 17-5. CURFEW—MINORS UNDER EIGHTEEN;PENALTY FOR VIOLATING

(a) It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of eighteen (18) years to loiter, idle, wander, stroll or play in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks, playgrounds, public buildings or other public grounds and public places, or to attend or frequent places of amusement, places where refreshments are served, drinking emporiums, taverns, vacant lots or any place unsupervised by an adult having the lawful authority to be at such place, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday of each week and 6:00 a.m. of the following day, and between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday each week, provided that the provisions of this section shall not apply in the following instances: 

  1. When such person is accompanied by his or her parent, guardian or other adult person having the lawful care and custody of such person;
  2. When such person is upon an emergency errand directed by his or her parent, guardian or other adult person having the lawful care and custody of such person;
  3. When such person is returning directly home from a school or religious activity, entertainment, recreational activity or dance;
  4. When such person is returning directly home from lawful employment that makes it necessary to be in the above-referenced places during the prescribed period of time; and
  5. When such person is attending or traveling directly to or from an activity involving the exercise of First Amendment rights of free speech, freedom of assembly, or free exercise of religion.

(b) Any such person not subject to the jurisdiction of the juvenile court, and any parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of such person, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. For the first offense, the court shall fine the defendant twenty-five dollars ($25.00) and costs. Greenwood 

Section 210.300  CURFEW FOR MINORS UNDER SEVENTEEN 

A. It shall be unlawful for any minor child under the age of seventeen (17) years to loiter, idle, wander, stroll or to drive or ride in an automobile, or play in or upon the public streets, parks, playgrounds or other public grounds, public places and public buildings, places of amusement and entertainment, vacant lots or other unsupervised places, between the hours of 11:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M.
B. It shall be unlawful for the parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of a minor under the age of seventeen (17) years to knowingly permit such minor to be found in violation of the provisions of Subsection (A) of this Section.  The conviction of a minor under this section may be used as evidence of a violation of this Section by said minor's parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of such minor, and shall create presumption that such adult person has permitted such minor to violate this Section.
C. The provisions of this Section shall not apply to a minor accompanied by his/her parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor, or where the minor is upon an emergency errand or legitimate business directed by his/her parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor, or where the minor is acting within the scope and course of legitimate employment nor shall provisions of Subsection (B) herein apply in any case subject to the foregoing exceptions.
D. Any Police Officer of the City of Greenwood finding a minor in violation of the provisions of this Section shall warn said minor to desist immediately from such violation and take such minor home to his/her parent, guardian or custodian.  If such parent, guardian or custodian cannot be located, he/she will retain custody until the parent, guardian or custodian is located and the minor delivered to him/her.  The Officer shall also report the violation to his/her superior officer who shall cause a written notice to be served on the parent, guardian or custodian setting forth the manner in which this Section has been violated.  Any minor, parent, guardian or custodian who shall thereafter knowingly violate Subsections (A) or (B) of this Section after receiving notice of the first (1st) violation shall be subject to prosecution as hereinbelow provided.
E. Any person violating the provisions of this Section shall, upon conviction, be adjudged guilty of a misdemeanor and be punished according to Section 100.050 of this Code.  (Ord. No. 2.000, 11-2-81; Ord. No. 2.312 §§1—5, 11-2-81) (printable version)

Independence 

Sec. 12.03.009. CURFEW; PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY (see full version)

A. It is unlawful for a minor under the age of seventeen (17) years to be upon the streets or public ways of the City of Independence between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on any ordinance Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday or between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. on any Friday or Saturday or on the nights of the eves of the principal U.S. holidays, which are as follows: New Year's Eve, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas. It shall also be unlawful for any minor subject to compulsory school attendance to be upon the streets or public ways, or to be at any public place, between the hours of8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday when school is in session for that minor. Provided, however, that the provisions of this section do no apply to a minor accompanied by his or her parent, guardian, or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor or to a minor who is upon an emergency errand directed by his or her parent, guardian, or other adult person having the care and custody of this minor. (printable version)

Lee's Summit

Sec. 19-81. CURFEW IN PARKS

It shall be unlawful for any person to be or remain upon any public park in the City between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. unless such person is a member of a group, association or organization using such park facilities for a particular purpose, provided a representative of the group, association or organization has first obtained a permit from the Parks and Recreation Department for such purposes. The Parks and Recreation Department shall grant such permit if it appears that the group, association or organization will not interfere with the general use of the park by the individual members of the public and if the group, association or organization meets all other conditions and regulations for use of such public park as enacted by the Parks and Recreation Board.  (Code 1988, § 19-81) (printable version)

Oak Grove

Section 210.590—CURFEW FOR PERSONS UNDER SEVENTEEN 

A. It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of seventeen (17) years to be in or upon any public place or way within the City of Oak Grove between the hours of 11:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. on Sunday through Thursday, and between the hours of 11:30 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. on Friday and Saturday. The provisions of this Section shall not apply to any such persons accompanied by a parent or guardian, to any such person upon an errand or other legitimate business directed by such person's parent or guardian, to any such person who is engaged in gainful, lawful employment during said time period or who is returning or in route to said employment or to any such person who is attending or in route to or from any organized religious or school activity. 

B. Responsibility Of Parent. The parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of a person under the age of seventeen (17) years shall not knowingly permit such person to violate this Section. 

C. Notice To Parent. Any Police Officer finding any person under the age of seventeen (17) years violating the provisions of this Section shall warn such person to desist immediately from such violation and shall promptly report the violation to his/her superior officer, who shall cause a written notice to be served upon the parent, guardian or person in charge of such person, setting forth the manner in which this Section has been violated. Any parent, guardian or person in charge of such person who shall knowingly permit such person to violate the provisions of this Section, after receiving notice of the first (1st) violation, shall be guilty of an offense. 

D. Service Of Notice. The written notice provided in Subsection (C) may be served by leaving a copy thereof at the residence of such parent, guardian or person in charge of the person in violation of this Section with any person found at such residence over the age of seventeen (17) years or by mailing such notice to the last-known address of such parent, guardian or person in charge of such person, wherever such person may be found. (printable version)

Sec. 13-21—CURFEW FOR MINORS

It shall be an offense for any minor to remain, idle, wander, stroll or play in any public place either on foot or to cruise about without a set destination in any vehicle in about or upon any place in the city between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday and between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., Friday through Saturday unless accompanied by a parent, guardian, custodian or other adult person having custody or control of such minor or unless the minor is on an emergency errand or specific business or activity directed or permitted by his parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor or where the presence of such minor is connected with or required by some legitimate employment, trade, profession or occupation. Section 77.060—CURFEW IMPOSED ON MINORS UNDER SEVENTEEN

It shall be unlawful for any minor under the age of seventeen (17) years to loiter, idle, wander, stroll or play in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, playgrounds, parks, public buildings, or to attend or frequent other unsupervised public areas between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. of the following day, provided however, that the provisions of this section do not apply to a minor accompanied by his or her parent, guardian, or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor, or where the minor is upon an emergency errand directed by his or her parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor.

Section 77.070—Responsibility of Parents

It shall be unlawful for the parent, guardian or other adult person having custody of a minor under the age of seventeen (17) years knowingly permit such a minor to violate the provisions of this chapter.

Section 77.080—Responsibility of Business Porprietors

It shall be unlawful for the keeper or proprietor of any place open to the public to permit any minor to enter their place of business, unless accompanied by their parent, guardian or other adult person, having the care and custody of such minor, between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. the following day, and the presence of a minor unaccompanied as aforesaid in any such public place shall constitute prima facie evidence that the keeper thereof permitted the minor to enter such public place with his knowledge and consent.

Section 77.100—Violations

Any minor violating the provisions of this chapter shall be arrested by the town police and turned over to the custody of the county juvenile officer or person acting for him to be dealt with according to the provisions of the law of the state covering the commission of misdemeanors by such minors.  Any parent, guardian or other adult having care and custody of a minor or keeper or proprietor of any public place who shall violate the provisions of this chapter shall be punished as provided Chapter 75 Subchapter D of this Town Code and by the laws of this state. (printable version)

Sec. 21-78--Curfew (see full version)

(a) It shall be unlawful for any minor under the age of seventeen (17) years to loiter, idle, wander, stroll or play in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, playgrounds, parks, public buildings, or to attend or frequent places of amusement, places where refreshments are served, drinking emporiums, taverns and other unsupervised public places, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. of the following day, central standard time; provided however, that the provisions of this section shall not apply to a minor accompanied by his or her parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor (or where the minor is upon an emergency errand directed by his or her parent, guardian, or other adult person having the care and custody of such minor).  Every violation of the provisions of this section shall constitute a separate offense.

(b) It shall be unlawful for the parent, guardian, or other adult person having the care and custody of a minor under the age of seventeen (17) years to knowingly permit such minor to violate the provisions of paragraph (a) of this section.  Every violation of this section shall constitute a separate offense.

(c) It shall be unlawful for the keeper or proprietor of any place of public amusement, place of refreshment, restaurants, drinking emporiums or other public places of amusement, refreshment, or entertainment to permit any minor between the ages defined in paragraph (a) of this section to enter his or its place of business unless accompanied by a parent, guardian, or other adult person having the care and custody of such minor between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. of the following day, and the presence od a minor unaccompanied as aforesaid in any such public herein mentioned, shall constitute prima facie evidence, Supp. No.9 (printable version)
