Commissioner David P. Kimminau was appointed Family Court Commissioner of Division 43 in January 2016 by the Court en Banc.  Prior to his appointment, he had been a shareholder in the Independence law firm of McElligott Ewan Hall & Kimminau since 1985.  He had practiced in the field of family law for 29 years.  His experience includes complex domestic litigation, mediation and appointment as Guardian ad Litem.  He was also appointed as a Special Master in various capacities including pendente lite applications and discovery issues, and served as a Discovery Master in the selling of real estate and property post dissolution.

Commissioner Kimminau graduated with honors from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law School in 1985.  He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1974 with a B.S. degree in the Administration of Justice.  Prior to going to law school, Commissioner Kimminau worked for the Missouri Department of Probation and Parole for eight years, and also served with the U.S. Army National Guard from 1970 to 1976. 

Commissioner Kimminau is a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and served as past chair of the Domestic Law Committee, and as a member of the Family and the Law Section.  Previously, he had served on the Supreme Court Form 14 Child Support Guidelines Committee of the Missouri Bar Association.  He is also a member of the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
