Biography

Commissioner Jackson was appointed as Family Court Commissioner of Division 40 by the Court en Banc on June 19, 2015, and began his 4 year term of service on September 1, 2015.
Commissioner Jackson has spent the majority of his legal career working at the Family Court.  He was hired in 1987 as an Attorney for the Juvenile Officer, and later became the Manager of Legal Services.  From 2002 until 2013, he served as Assistant Director of Legal Services.   In January 2013, he was appointed as Juvenile Officer and Director of Legal Services.   In that position, he managed the civil prosecution of child dependency and delinquency matters. He also managed the Case Assessment Unit, which is responsible for recommendations regarding formal and informal cases.
Commissioner Jackson has participated on numerous interdisciplinary teams including the Sexual Abuse Task Force, the Jackson County Child Fatality Review Team, the Community Quality Assurance Committee, and the Safe Reduction of Children in Care workgroup. He is a member of the Missouri Juvenile Justice Association and the Kansas City Missouri Bar Association.  He is a graduate of the National Center for State Courts’ Management Program.
Commissioner Jackson obtained a J.D. degree in 1982 from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.
