Biography

Deputy Commissioner Scott R. ManuelScott R. Manuel was appointed as Deputy Probate Commissioner on January 3, 2014.  At the time of his appointment, Commissioner Manuel was a shareholder with the law firm of Humphrey, Farrington and McClain, P.C. in Independence, Missouri, where he practiced law for 24 years.  His practice was primarily in the areas of estate planning, probate, trusts and guardianship law.  For 14 of those years, he served as court appointed respondent's counsel on adult guardianships.  He also has a backgroud in civil litigation.
 
Commissioner Manuel grew up in California and practiced law there for six years before moving to Missouri.  He is a 1984 graduate of Golden State University of Law in San Francisco, California.  In 1981, he obtained bachelors degrees in Business Adminisrtation and Economics from Graceland University in Iowa.
