POSSIBLE JURY DUTY SCAM

On June 26, the Court was made aware of a possible scam involving jury duty.  The caller identified themselves as a representative from the Court and told the member of the public to immediately report to the Court for jury duty and also directed them to make a payment.

Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, jury trials are not presently taking place at the Jackson County Circuit Court.  No jurors are being brought into the courthouses.  Jury trials will resume in late September and early October.  Prospective jurors will receive an official notice from the Court closer to those dates if they are called for jury duty.  And, a Court representative would never direct someone to make a payment in conjunction with an instruction to report for jury duty.

If you believe you are the victim of a scam, contact your local law enforcement agency.
