POSITION PURPOSE AND EXAMPLES OF WORK:

To prepare, season, cook and serve nutritional and well balanced meals for juvenile residents.
75% - Prepare, cook, and serve food in a cafeteria style setting.

15% - Clean kitchen area, equipment, and utensils. 10% - Complete logs, inventories, and related documentation.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

(Education above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required general experience; experience above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
EDUCATION: High School graduate, or recognized equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: One year of institutional/cafeteria cooking experience, such as in a school or hospital OR comparable training.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:


*One designated position is required to deliver meals by van. Employee in this designated position must have valid drivers’ license from state of residence. If driving non-court vehicle for Court business, must have auto liability insurance and properly licensed and reliable vehicle. Must be able to provide proof of the above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge, skills, and abilities required to function at an acceptable level in the position. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work environment and facilities required to work in as well as physical demands and/or mental requirements. (This is not an inclusive list; other tasks/duties may be assigned.)
JOB ENVIRONMENT: STANDING - 67-100% of time – Food preparation, etc.
WALKING – 67-100% of time – Food preparation, maneuvering in kitchen, etc.
SITTING – 1-33% of time – occasional when on computer or completing logs and reports.
LIFTING/CARRYING - 60 lbs. – Food cases; containers with cooking utensils; sugar and flour sacks, trash bags, etc..
PUSHING/PULLING – 50-60 lbs. – Appliances, loading trays into vans; loaded food and drink carts, etc.
VISION – reading instructions and recipes; to cook and use kitchen equipment and machinery; determine quality and completeness of food.
HEARING – Must be adequate for normal conversation with co-workers, supervisor, youth both in person and over telephone.
SPEECH – Must be able to speak and understand English clearly to provide detailed information by telephone and in person.
CLIMBING/BALANCING – Required when negotiating stairs, or retrieving supplies from overhead or from the floor; occasional climbing ladders to reach higher shelves; loading or unloading food carts into vans.
STOOPING/KNEELING/CROUCHING/CRAWLING – Required when retrieving supplies from overhead shelves or from the floor; loading or unloading food or food carts into vans.
REACHING/HANDLING – Required on most tasks.
DRIVING/TRAVEL – if designated; delivers meals by van to other facilities.
