To provide counseling and coordinate services designed to meet the needs of 17 year old youth referred to the Juvenile Officer for alleged delinquent offenses accomplished through casework including assessment, treatment plan development, counseling, referral to community services.

60% Meet with youth to determine treatment and service needs. Work with youth to set goals and develop life plans, identify resources and service providers, help youth remove barriers to engagement.
• Meet with youth to assess and determine needs and set goals through various methods including motivational interviewing.
• Assist youth in formulating a course of action to achieve goals to help stabilize personal, social, emotional adjustment and begin or continue educational and/or vocational programs.
• Counsel youth on an individual and group basis to assist in recognizing in understanding and overcoming barriers to success.
• Maintain regular and frequent contact with youth to ensure engagement.
  

35% Prepare and maintain written documentation. Work with resources regarding treatment and/or service needs.
• Compile, organize, and update files for accurate representation of youth background, goals and plans or other relative information.
• Utilize outside resources for protective or supportive services to youth.
• Transport youth and make home, school and other field visits.

5% Participate in training and professional development; attend meetings.
• Complete regular training in all aspects of work as directed within department.
• Conduct training with peers, other court staff and EAJ Navigators to ensure shared vision and sufficient skills for efficient and effective program operation.
• Attend meetings within the department and service area; attend meetings with outside agencies to ensure good communication and effective case work.
• Perform related work as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: (Education above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required general experience; experience above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.)

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral or social science, or other directly related field. (Degree required, cannot substitute experience for degree.)

Some work experience in the same or closely related field is required. Experience can be from internships, practicums, or employment and must have required the use of social work or psychological principles and techniques to effect behavioral change.

• Must have valid driver’s license from state of residence, and provide proof of such.
• Must have liability insurance and properly licensed/reliable vehicle, and provide proof of such.
• Must submit to and pass criminal background check as prescribed by Courts.
• All applicants for this position are subject to testing for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
• Employees in this position are subject to random and reasonable suspicion testing for illegal drug use.
• Final employment offer is dependent on successfully passing physical exam, and physical abilities performance testing
