POSITION PURPOSE: To develop, train, and supervise staff in the Emerging Adult Program. The Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing the activities of unit staff responsible for the assessment, intake, referral and provision of services to youth at 17 at the time of referral to the court.

60% Manage staff in the daily operation of the Emerging Adult Justice program.
SUPERVISION BY (Include level of Supervision): Program Manager of Emerging Adult Unit assigns/monitors work and evaluates job performance.
SERVICE RESPONSIBILITY:
INTERNAL: Deputy Juvenile Officers, Juvenile Probation Officers, Case Management Officers, and other Court staff.
EXTERNAL: Law Enforcement Officers, Defense Counsel, State & local community agencies. Provide youth and family with assessment, referral, and treatment services.
PRIMARY EQUIPMENT, TOOLS & MATERIALS USED: Telephone, computer, keyboard and printer, case history files, various legal forms and documents.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in a behavioral/social science, or other directly related field. Degree is required, cannot substitute experience for degree.
EXPERIENCE: Two years' experience in a related field.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must have auto liability insurance, and properly licensed/reliable vehicle, and provide proof of such.
· Must submit to and pass criminal background check as prescribed by the Court.
· Must submit to and pass sex offender registry, and MO/KS child abuse & neglect checks.
· All applicants for this position are subject to testing for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

· Knowledge of courtroom protocol, and case management practices.
· Knowledge of adolescent behavior.
· Knowledge of trauma, impact on functioning and basic recovery principles, knowledge of LGBTQ issues
· Knowledge of State juvenile code, and Supreme Court rules as they relate to the detainment, and/or release of juveniles.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
