Salary Range For Internal/Rehire Applicants: $19.45 - $29.17 Hourly

Assist the Fiscal Office in performing responsible and complex accounting work in the maintenance of Circuit Court financial records and transactions.

• Perform accounting work in the automated and manual maintenance of account data by posting entries to general ledger regarding cash receipts and disbursements, preparing schedules, and verifying and posting of account balances
• Reconcile bank statements of various accounts
• Prepare cash reports, bank deposits and voucher checks
• Communicate and work with bank and court personnel; consult with financial institution representatives regarding account services and information
• Utilize computer for data input, retrieval, management and organization of varied financial data, requiring the use of spreadsheet, word processing, and case management applications
• Assist in the review and evaluation of financial control systems and internal accounting methods and procedures and report on effectiveness and recommendations for changes or improvements, which may be technological
• Interpret accounting record information which may concern the financial conduct and condition of the Court
• Prepare routine and non-routine financial statistical reports, statements, expenditure allocations, fees, etc.
• Attend meetings, training and seminars; responds to inquiries and provides information to the general public, attorneys, court employees, auditors and government agency personnel
• Attend annual land tax sales and receipt monies.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required general experience; experience above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a directly related field with an emphasis in Accounting
• One year in bookkeeping, accounting or auditing capacity or a directly related field. Operation of spreadsheet software and word processing
• Knowledge of the modern principles, practices, methods and techniques of fund accounting and related computer technology, and the ability to apply them to varied accounting transactions
• Computer and printer; telephone; calculator/adding machine
• Various accounting and banking records and forms, both manual and computer generated, which requires substantial close-up work
• Ability in the operation of computers and calculators
• Experienced in spreadsheet development and utilization, and the management of electronic data files
• Ability to read handwritten or small printed words and numbers rapidly and accurately
• Ability to maintain an effective system of accounting and financial reporting
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
• Ability to make work decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, and departmental policies and procedures
• Ability to organize a variety of demands on time
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
• Ability to work independently and within deadlines with minimal supervision
• Ability to maintain a variety of complex records and prepare varied reports from such records
