POSITION PURPOSE AND EXAMPLES OF WORK:


POSITION PURPOSE: To ensure the safety and security of youth and assist in the execution of established youth treatment and service goals and court orders.

MAJOR TASK STATEMENTS & REPRESENTATIVE ACTIVITIES (Percentage of Time):

45% Supervise, assist and monitor activities of youth; document behavior, actions, incidents and other information.


40% Execute individual components of treatment and service plans; review and execute court orders.
15% Travel to youth residence and other locations; transport youth; monitor visits; conduct room checks; attend meetings and training; and perform related duties. SUPERVISION OF: None.
SUPERVISION BY (Include level of Supervision):
Facility Supervisor, Program Manager, Unit Manager or Director, depending upon facility and/or service area assigned.

Work is reviewed through discussions and on the basis of the quality and quantity of statistical data provided to management. Supervision may range from close to minimal, dependent upon facility and/or service area.

SERVICE RESPONSIBILITY:
INTERNAL: Case Management, Juvenile Probation and Deputy Juvenile Officers and other program staff and management, dependent upon facility and/or service area.
EXTERNAL: Youth, parents, guardians and other family members, school, community agency and social service personnel, law enforcement agencies, and volunteers.

PRIMARY EQUIPMENT, TOOLS & MATERIALS USED: Computer, telephone, copier/printer/scanner/fax, keys, various reports and forms, computer generated or handwritten, program manuals, vehicle, electronic surveillance equipment, general hand tools, mechanical restraints, various recreational materials and objects, pager.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: One year of work experience, not necessarily related. Preference given to applicants with experience with troubled youth.
