• To coordinate and provide research and information utilized by management to assist in making administrative decisions within Family Court.
  • Assess research requests to determine appropriate research method, collect data through statistical sources, interviews, surveys, and observation; and prepare conclusions for both formal and ad hoc presentations, papers, and discussions.
    · Determine appropriate data source and/or research method to answer research questions.
    · Collect, compile and analyze a variety of data for reporting purposes derived from multiple sources both external and internal.
    · Communicate with agency staff to develop understanding of court processes to inform research initiatives and to gather information.
    · Compile data from multiple sources to complete monthly, quarterly and annual statistical reports for regular and special projects.
    · Extract data from various sources, such as databases.
    · Develop and condition large datasets.
    · Check for and correct out of range, implausible or incomplete data.
    · Analyze juvenile-justice data with respect to monthly monitoring, recidivism, youth assessments, case screenings, status of youth in detention, etc.
    · Exercise judgment in determining datasets used for collection and analysis.
    · Ensure data integrity to provide for evidence-based decisions and strategic planning for programming practices and outcomes, and juvenile-justice trends and forecasting.
    · Create routine and non-routine reports including summary tables and charts which and narrative discussion of data and analysis.
    · Respond to agencies requests for reports or information.
  • Coordinate data collection and entry; supervision of staff.
    · Design efficient data collection techniques utilizing knowledge of court processes, definitions and reporting requirements.
    · Review data sets for completeness and accuracy, recommend actions for correcting errors.
    · Maintain contact with court staff to gather or coordinate the collection of data and explain the purpose and completion method of standard reporting forms.
    · Coordinate all requested reports with Supervisor or Director.
    · Oversee the research and data acquisition process.
    · Supervise staff and perform hiring, training, corrective and related functions.
    · Coordinate, assign, schedule and correct work of staff.
  • Perform special projects and related duties.
    · Assist on research and development projects as assigned.
    · Collect information on juvenile justice and social science topics through various means such as the internet, surveys, observation and auditing of program meetings and focus groups; read, condense and report on studies to Supervisor.
    · Coordinate data collection and analysis on special projects.
    · Attend meetings.
    · Perform related work as required to include but not limited to serve on teams/committees as assigned, cross-train for other jobs as assigned, and work on special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social or Human Services, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.

EXPERIENCE: Three years’ experience in data management and/or related project management demonstrating the ability to manage a variety of tasks and multiple priorities while exercising critical thinking and independent judgment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must submit to and pass criminal background check as prescribed by Courts, Sex Offender Registry check, and MO and KS Child Abuse and Neglect checks.
• All applicants for this position are subject to testing for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Employees in this position are subject to entrance, promotion/transfer, random, and reasonable suspicion testing for illegal drug use.
  

· Knowledge of project management.
· Skill in research design, statistical analysis and report preparation.
· Skill in developing and conditioning Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, including use of formulas.
· Ability to assess research need and requirements to determine the best method of data collection and analysis and to lead projects with minimal oversight.
· Ability to make routine analyses and interpretations of statistical data and present analyses and conclusions with clarity and precision in written and graphic form.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to prepare clear, complete and logical reports which are highly detailed and statistical in nature.
· Must be accurate and detail-oriented with ability to deal with interruptions while completing work within deadlines.
· Ability to manage multiple projects.
· Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
· Ability to work and relate in a positive fashion toward individuals from diverse backgrounds and maintain effective working relationships.
