To provide psychological-based information about juvenile justice-involved youth and families to assist in developing, determining and delivering individual intervention strategies and system responses. Select and administer psycho-neurological testing, personality inventories, educational evaluations, intelligence, achievement, interest and other psychometric tests; conduct clinical interviews with youth and interpret results; diagnose mental and emotional disorders of youth and make recommendations regarding treatment, supervision and/or rehabilitation; testify in court as needed.involved youth and families to assist in developing, determining and delivering individual intervention strategies and system responses. Review and discuss individual cases with direct service staff, managers or administrators, identifying and formulating treatment plans; assist in reviewing and interpreting psychotropic medication needs; sit as a member of committee(s) assessing and reviewing youth who may need residential treatment or commitment of youth to an agency, program or unique setting designed to meet special needs of youth; assist in assessing effectiveness of treatment techniques, modalities and programs. Perform psychological evaluations of certain court-involved youth for the purpose of facilitating legal decisions; provide written reports and testify at judicial proceedings when necessary. Design, develop and conduct training for staff regarding various aspects of adolescent psychology, suicide prevention, mental illness and related topics; collaborate with mental and medical health agencies and staff to plan, develop and implement treatment services; perform public speaking regarding Court psychological services and related topics; instruct and direct clinical supervision or practicum students on mental health matters; maintain knowledge of modern principles, practices, methods and techniques in the psychology field and legislation and laws concerning certification and mental competency; and perform related work as required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
PhD in Psychology or Psy D 10 years directly related work experience as a practicing licensed Psychologist which includes the testing, assessment and treatment of adolescents. Experience with court-involved youth is beneficial, but not required. Thorough knowledge of various counseling and treatment modalities; thorough knowledge of psychometrics; thorough knowledge of modern principles, practices, methods and techniques of adolescent psychology. Skilled in the administration and interpretation of a variety of psychological tests. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to apply legal principles and specialized knowledge to individual cases and problems; ability to analyze, appraise, and organize facts concerned in cases and to prepare written recommendations or opinions; ability to make work decisions in accordance with laws, regulations and Court policies and procedures; ability to relate in a positive fashion to individuals from a variety of cultural, economic and ethnic backgrounds; ability to speak publicly in an effective manner; ability to operate computer and printer. Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain valid certification as a Licensed Psychologist as issued by the Missouri State Committee of Psychologists. Applicants with current equivalent licensing in other states may be considered depending on Missouri reciprocity requirements. Must be able to provide proof of license.
