Accounting and Fiscal Office (Case Financial Information)

The Accounting and Fiscal Office is part of the Court Administrator’s Office. The department provides financial advice to the Court Administrator, the Judges and Commissioners, and the individual records departments, and is responsible for accounting and financial management for monies paid into the Court Registry for civil, criminal, and probate cases, along with monies collected at the annual Court Administrator's Delinquent Land Tax Sale. The Director is assisted by an accounting staff that includes an assistant director, accountants, supervisors, and accounting clerks who work in the following accounting areas: 

  • Accounting and financial management for case transactions
  • Development of  internal controls for accurate accounting and safeguarding of the Court’s assets and liabilities
  • Reconciliations of the Court’s financial records for funds paid into the Court Registry
  • Preparation of the Court’s financial statements and other case related financial reports
  • Receipting garnishment and judgment funds for civil and probate cases
  • Receipting funds to replenish eFiling attorney debit account balances
  • Receipting funds collected for civil, criminal, and probate cases through the authorized Debt Collection Agency, Missouri Tax Offset, Department of Correction, or other authorized agency
  • Preparing disbursement checks, as per statutes, Court Order, Court Judgment, and Court policies, for civil, criminal, and probate cases, along with  excess proceeds  and other disbursement checks related to the delinquent land tax sales  
  • Processing Lost Check Affidavits for civil, criminal, and probate cases
  • Accounts receivable for uncollected court costs 
  • Accounting supervisory reviews for civil, criminal, and probate court cases
  • Cashiering of the annual Court Administrator's Delinquent Land Tax Sale
  • Coordinating the Court’s external audits of funds paid into the Court Registry
  • Preparation of the Court’s annual report of unclaimed property

 

The Accounting and Fiscal Office is responsible for assisting the public with financial questions and inquiries regarding receipts and disbursements entered on a case, replacement of lost checks, inquiries regarding uncollected court costs turned over to debt collection, and abandoned property escheated to the State Treasurer as unclaimed property.
