Biography

Judge Robert M. Schieber was appointed as Circuit Judge in November 2006 by Gov. Matt Blunt. Schieber was appointed by the Circuit Court as Family Court Commissioner in May 2000. Schieber was assistant legal advisor to the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department from 1998-2000. He was also on contract with the Jackson County Family Court’s Office of the Juvenile Officer from 1997 until his appointment as Family Court Commissioner, representing that office in cases on appeal. Schieber’s legal career began in the Jackson County Circuit Court in 1988 when he was law clerk for then-Circuit Judge John I. Moran. Schieber has worked in public and private practice. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1983, and his juris doctorate in 1988 from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
