In 2002 the 16th Judicial Circuit Court of Jackson County, Missouri expanded its policies and procedures relating to the Americans with Disabilities Act in an effort to maximize accessibility to the Court for every citizen. Parking
There is no designated free parking for the public at either courthouse. There are handicapped metered spaces are on the north side of the Courthouse on 12th Street, near the Oak intersection. Accessible public parking is also available in the City Garage located at the corner of 12th and Oak. Metered parking is available on the street in front of and on the sides of the Independence Courthouse annex.
Accessible Entries
The accessible entrance for the downtown Kansas City courthouse is located on the west side of the building. The accessible entrance for the Independence Courthouse is located at the front of the building. Both buildings are equipped with elevators.
Accessible Restrooms
In the downtown Kansas City courthouse, accessible public restrooms are located in the Jury Assembly Room on the 3rd Floor. In the Independence courthouse, the accessible public restrooms are located on the ground floor (basement).
