Criminal Records Information
 

The Department of Criminal Records is responsible for maintaining all records in criminal and traffic matters before the 16th Judicial Circuit Court. These records consist of documentation of traffic violations and of misdemeanor and felony charges against individuals.

The Department maintains two (2) office locations: The Criminal Justice Center at 1315 Locust, Kansas City, MO, and in the Independence Courthouse Annex at 308 W Kansas, Suite 310, Independence, MO. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Criminal History Information:

Any requests for criminal history or background checks must be directed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The Department of Criminal Records does not provide general information regarding criminal history, case status, nor do we perform background checks on individuals. The Missouri State Highway Patrol maintains the central repository for the State and collects information from all law enforcement agencies, prosecutorial agencies and courts statewide. Bail Bonds:

The Court Administrator’s Office is responsible for certifying qualified bonding companies, and publishing a monthly listing of qualified bonding (surety) companies. The submission procedure for becoming a qualified bonding company, as well as the most current listing of qualified companies, can be found by clicking on the link below
